Class Rules and Expectations 1.Be on time and begin work right away. When you enter the room check to see if there is a “Do Now” assignment.If there is no “Do Now” assignment continue working on the classroom project from last class.Do not bring any food, drinks, coats, or hats into the art room.Coming to class late with a pass is still coming to class late.Passes will be saved.If passes or late arrivals are excessive, students will have to make up time after school and lose points on their participation grade.Students who are late are not given extra time for “Do Now” projects.
2.Quiet voices while working. No loud voices, arguing while working, or talking during movies or lectures.
3.Use all tools and materials safely and appropriately. All tools stay in the art room unless signed out.Tools are breakable.Do not play with them.Nothing flies in the air.Brushes, desks, pens, must be washed.Materials are very expensive.Do not waste paper, paint, or other supplies.
4.Artwork and conversations should be school appropriate. No talk about sex, drugs, alcohol, fights. No bigotry, name calling, or making fun of art projects or work.Keep the conversation neutral or about the artwork or talking will not be allowed.Hudson High is a public school funded by a community of taxpayers.All projects must be suitable for display anywhere in the community or the projects will not be accepted for a grade.
5.Clean up five minutes before the bell and store all tools and materials where they belong. If you finish a task or project early, consider how to improve it or repeat it if time allows.You are expected to work on class artwork the entire period.Talking while working is appropriate, but talking and not working is not appropriate and points will be deducted from your monthly participation grade. Do not do homework for another class.Do not annoy and disrupt other students.If you are finished practice a new skill or try a new technique. Students are expected to be in the room with the door closed until the bell rings.
Consequences Students who continue to break rules after a verbal reminder will be assigned after school detention in Room 115.Calling home may accompany or happen in place of after school detention with me.The student will be expected to serve the detention the same day that it is assigned or the following school day.A written referral will be sent to the Assistant Principal reporting any students who skip an assigned detention.A written referral will also be sent to the Assistant Principal for behaviors that are disruptive for the class, cutting class, problem behaviors that have occurred over several days. If for any reason a disruptive student is sent out of the room, he or she is expected to see the teacher later to discuss the problem privately.Class time will not be wasted on discipline matters.
